Flake Out Festival - Wisconsin Dells 2009

This past week has been freezing cold here, in the negative temps, but we braved the cold and slight flurries to hit the Flake Out Festival in the Dells on saturday. What fun! Now saturday is the day that all the carving on the sculptures is being done, so most of the sculptures were in different states of contstruction, I'm hoping to go back this week and see them all finished, there were some pretty cool ones.

Rob, Chris and I bundled up so we'd stay warm and lugged the cameras around checking everything out. They had a guy carving stuff out of blocks of ice, something that I could never do, and a blacksmith set up in a little shack demonstrating how his tools worked.

Although we were freezing, we managed to walk around for quite a while, bought some hot cocoa to warm us up and took a bunch more shots. I'll get some more up soon, but for now, stay warm!

I'd like to introduce . . .

sylvester, originally uploaded by briemarie.

Sylvester! I know I'm a bit weird, but I name my cameras. Sylvester is the newest addition to our collection and we love it! The fuji has simulated film modes which we can't wait to use for the next shoot, too bad it's winter and freezing cold out! This camera is a dream to work with, it was literally love at first click. Rob doesn't want to put it down, probably for fear that I'll snatch it up and never let it go.

I hope that everyone is staying warm, especially as I hear the temps are going to drop below zero this week, let's hope that the weatherman is wrong, ok?

Hope the new year is going great for everyone, too. Cheers!

the Once Upon A Time Bridal Expo at Ho-Chunk

expo booth 01, originally uploaded by briemarie.

First off, we want to thank all the brides, their fiancees, mothers and friends that braved the icy Wisconsin roads to make it to the expo. Thank goodness the roads weren't too bad this morning! It was so great meeting with so many of you, talking with you and learning about your wedding plans. We talked to so many wonderful people at the expo and had a blast getting to know you and your friends and family, there's so much to see that I am sure you are feeling overwhelmed afterwards.

I know that there were so many vendors and displays to look at and we are honored that so many of you took the time to stop and spend some time talking with us, perusing our images and albums.

I have to really thank the super awesome Jen, she fell in love with us and booked on the spot, of course after calling her fiancee before, and we are super stoked to be shooting her wedding in August! Congrats, Jen, and all the other brides, seriously, this is a wonderful time for you and the planning seems to take so long but the day will be here and gone before you know it.

If you are thinking of booking, or interested in rates, let us know and we'll get you the info asap!

I hope everyone had as great of a time as I did, what a super awesome birthday weekend for me, I totally can't stop smiling, seriously, everyone we met was awesome and it really was a pleasure getting the chance to talk to so many of you.
