{baby bump} karen - devil's lake

Some of you may know that while I was pregnant, two of my closest friends were due around the same time. My best friend, Karen, wanted to do some maternity shots before her little boy arrived. So, we decided to hit the lake, good thing we went that day, too, because six days later little Victor arrived! I had so much fun with Karen and her family, you may recognize them from a family session last year. Karen is so gorgeous and the kids adore her, although poor little Sylvie just wants mommy to hold her and at this point, there's no place for her to go on Karen! It must have looked funny, two pregnant women tramping through the woods, but we had so much fun, we found an awesomely twisted tree, and no poison ivy -we were a little worried about that, but no itching, so we're all good. Karen was up for tons of poses. Plus, I even got her to get a little wet, just a little, there was no jumping into the lake for us, although it did warm up nicely.

I love the way that the light seems to be centered just on her in this shot:

Seriously, isn't she gorgeous? I swear I never realized how hawt she was until today, just look at those eyes!

These are just a few from the beginning of our session, I can't believe how long ago that was. I know I'm way behind on posting, please forgive me, the new baby is taking up way more time than I imagined. Although I could just watch her sleep for hours, now if she would just sleep at night.

{baby bump} missy + mike, in the studio and out at the farm

Mike had called me about a month before the shoot to schedule his wife's baby bump shots for their first anniversary. How sweet! So, on the 14th, which is not only my little brother's birthday and flag day, it was their anniversary, and the day was perfect, albeit a tiny bit warm. They met me at the house, amid our kitchen remodeling disaster. I was so excited when Missy told me that she was willing to do anything! I know that I clapped my hands with glee!

So, we took off to the studio where Missy got all wrapped up, I have seriously been waiting for someone as adventurous as her to come along! We had such a blast in the studio that we decided to head out to my mom's farm, Mike and Missy are friends of the family after all, and get some shots with Mike's tractor. OMG - what an amazing day with a beautiful sky and gorgeous model. Missy is truly stunning, her belly is so perfect and round! And tiny, I swear that my own is way bigger and Missy is due a week and a half before I am, and she is just gorgeous! She is also one of the few pregnant women I know, that wanted to be surprised by what she's having, isn't that just more fun? I thought so. I can't wait to be surprised on the big day.

Pregnant women are just stunning. Take a look at our day, we had so much fun together, and it was great really getting to know Missy, because although they are friends of the family, I had never spent so much time with her.

Look at how cute these two are together:

I love their expressions in these two!

Mike claims that every time he puts his head next to Missy's belly, the baby moves it's butt next to him.

{baby bump} a little test + me

I've been wanting to do more maternity shoots during our slow times. Being pregnant is such an amazing feeling, knowing that a little someone is growing inside of you, well I'm already emotional enough as it is, but it's such a miracle knowing that you will be bringing a whole new life into this world.

The pregnant body is unlike anything else, it's full of curves and beauty. Everyone is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I am loving my pregnant body. I'm not always loving the kicking going on inside, or the fact that I have to use the bathroom more often, but I feel like I have never in my life looked as good as I do now. Except when I think I've turned into a walrus, but that's a whole other story.

So tonight when we got home, I had Rob help wrap me up in some extra long cloth and pose by the fading light of the window in our studio. I was testing some little clamps to see how they would hold up during an actual shoot to hold my wrap up, and they seemed to work pretty darn good, I even walked around and tried to trip myself, on accident not on purpose. Of course, baby j had to get in on the action and was stretching a bit inside. I can't wait to do more baby bump sessions.
