Winter is here

It's been a while since my last post, I know that I should be on top of things here, but life just gets in the way. I'm short staffed at work, so I'm working more than usual. I really want to be working on our photo business, but my real job is all I get.

We have snow! Lots and lots of the white stuff. There's at least a foot of snow in our yard, and more is coming down as I type. Everything looks gorgeous and crystalline, it's like a fairytale world, although the roads are really slick, so driving is not fun at all. Although, it's the kind of snow that's pretty to look at, you can't build snowmen because it's really fine and light, no substance to it at all.

My mom had us over this weekend to bake cookies. I love cookies, any sweet really!
We've got another booking for next year. One of my friends from high school is getting married in August at Devil's Lake and we are going to be doing her photography. I am so excited! I can't wait, her fiance is great, too, so I know that the shots are going to be amazing. I have so many ideas floating around in my head.

OUR HOUSE!!!

This is it! I finally realized that I had not posted a shot of our house. I love saying that. Our house. I can do whatever I want, except paint the kitchen lime green. How cool would a lime green kitchen be? Well, let Rob know that a lime kitchen would rock. He's so opposed to it, but he let me paint the living room "Gypsy Red", it is super bright and oh so awesome.

Owning our house, it's one of the best feelings in the world. Just knowing that when I come home, it's ours. It's like when we shoot a wedding and the couple come to pick up their images afterwards, and we get to see their face and how they love the pictures. It's that feeling, but so much better. It's really big on the inside, four bedrooms and room in the basement (unless you're tall like Rob, hehe) for a bar and a den area where we can play games and such, especially when we have kids, then it'll be quiet for them. Now, we aren't planning on having kids for a while, but there's a swingset, which Cheyanne thinks is the reason we bought the house. Yes, honey, we bought you a really really expensive swingset, it'll be the only one you ever get! Ha.

I could keep rambling on, but I wanted everyone to see our new home.

my new 'Sac

Well, I've splurged and bought my self a Shootsac by Jessica Claire. I can't wait to actually take it out and play with it. I work until thursday and then have the day off to play around, I should be taking some family shots of the Jess and her girls, we'll see if she cancels on me again! It will be the perfect opportunity to break in my new Shootsac, an awesome lens bag, which makes it so much easier to switch lenses on the fly.

I have realized that I'm a prime kinda girl. I love how fast the lens can get, and the super sweet pics that are the result. I know that Rob is totally into the zoom lenses, but I feel like prime is the way for me, which is great because between the two of us, we get the shots, and we are always thinking the same thing. It's so funny to come home from a shoot and be editing the shots and see some similar shots. Although, we can then be in two different places at once, which is so awesome because we can get some great emotions, especially when people aren't paying attention to us. Now, I just need to expand my bagful of glass.

September already!

Just last saturday, we shot Tim and Miranda's wedding. It was such a blast! They got married at St. Joe's, which is an awesome church, huge cathedral ceilings, great light coming in and a balcony to view the ceremony.

After the wedding, we hit lower Ochsner's park for some bridge shots and then went bar hopping with the couple, who got to ride in a convertible yellow Stang through town.

Rob and I have just moved from Rock Springs to Baraboo! We bought a house up on Ash street and am finally done moving all our stuff into the new house, now we just need to unpack, finish the wood floor and get all our wedding shots processed (not in that order!). We've got a busy couple of weeks ahead of us with finishing up Tim and Miranda's wedding shots, along with shooting for Kim and Nehemiah next saturday!

Cheers!

News for July!

Rob and I have been looking at houses, for those of you that didn't know. It's high time we got a place of our own. We are so excited because we just found out today that our offer was accepted and hopefully, we will be moving to Baraboo very soon. It'll be a lot closer to the venues we shoot at regularly, and a little easier to find for our prospective clients. (and we can decorate to our hearts content and have a great looking place to show-off our work instead of the house we are currently in.)
We've got two weddings coming up in the next month and a half and are sure that the next couple of months will be crazy. We love it!

We also got our first booking for next year. Jackie and David will be getting married on October 4, 2008 and we are so excited for them.

Time Slips By

Oh my goodness. I can't believe how far into June we are already! And here I haven't posted any shots of our wedding from May 26th. Still no shots this time, but Bruce and Rebekah were such a rockin' couple. The whole day was a blast. They were so funny and, I am sure, that everyone at the wedding left feeling better than when they got there.
The ceremony was at Walnut Hill, I found parts of that church I had never seen before, and they have an awesome patio for shots, only if it doesn't sprinkle on you! The reception was held at the Baraboo Arts Banquet Hall, which has great lighting.
Bruce and Rebekah also had a live band! They rocked the whole night. It was an amazing wedding, and I truly can't wait to post some images here.

The Big Event: Stacy & Adam

This is just a couple shots from our last wedding, which was May 5. Stacy and Adam were great. They got married at the Country Bluff Wedding Chapel, an old country church, which had awesome lighting and a balcony that I used to get some awesome shots of the ceremony. Rob stayed downstairs and got the shots from below. It was a very intimate ceremony.

Their reception was held at the Baraboo Arts Banquet Hall, we've been to a few receptions there and it's great to see how everyone sets it up differently.

While they didn't have a ton of people, the guests that were there were all great. Everyone looked like they were having a wonderful time. The couple were so funny, as you can tell by their cake topper! It was such a blast.

Stacy came and picked up their album a couple days ago, and loved them. It was so hard for us to pick out the ones for the album, we took so many shots, but it was great to see her face as she finally got to flip through the events of her day.

Seth & Sylvie

I went up to Oshkosh today to take pictures of Seth and Sylvie. Sylvie will be two weeks old tomorrow and I wanted to get in some newborn shots before she starts to really grow into herself.
Today was my first newborn shoot, but it was for my best friend and her husband, so I didn't feel too pressured. I know that I took some great shots of everyone. I'd love to get some more babies to practice on, although I'll take more pics of Seth and Sylvie every couple of months so I don't miss any of the growing stages.
I know that when I have kids, I will be taking so many pictures of them that everyone will get sick of my camera. Ahhh, the love of a parent. Unconditional love for your child, I know that I captured this emotion in some of my shots and am so happy to see that in them.

Welcom Miss Sylvie!

My best friend, Karen, called me around one o'clock today to tell me the good news. Sylvie Adora was born this morning, 8:26 I believe, I know that she told me the time, but I've been a little absentminded today.

I can't believe how tiny she is. She is so gorgeous. I'm itching and ready to take newborn shots of little Sylvie. She cried for about the first half hour that we were there, and then Karen handed her off to Bethany, my sister, and Sylvie quieted right down, Beth has always had that affect on babies. As soon as I held the little one, her face screwed up and she started practicing with her little lungs.

I have got a ton of ideas running through my head about newborn shots and can't wait to practice them on Sylvie and her big brother Seth, who so far is not that impressed by his wee little sister. I'm sure that he just needs some time to get used to the new bundle of joy.

Sawyer in the cool afternoon

I went out and took some shots of Sawyer today. We shot later in the afternoon so the sun wouldn't be so bright, it was the perfect cloudy day for shooting. The temperature was a little colder than I would have liked and we took Sawyer's jacket off for the shoot, and his little nose turned bright pink. It was so cold that it started to flurry. I thought we were supposed to be done with winter and snow.

We started out with a bale of hay and cowboy hat, both of which got discarded.

I took some shots next to their shed, gave some great textures for a background and we got some awesome expressions from Sawyer when everyone started talking to him and asking him what kind of noise a monster makes, he is so adorable, and then we moved on to the tire swing and his John Deere four wheeler.
It was such a great shoot! I took a ton of shots, but that's normal for me. I love to shoot, it's so great when you go out and take shots for someone and you know that one of those shots will be going up on a wall or on a mantle, it's such a great feeling.

Afternoon with Cheyanne

We've been doing little shoots lately, but I don't have anything ready for here, yet. We did spend yesterday at Rob's parents and I took a couple shots of Cheyanne, our niece, usually she loves being the center of attention, but today she really wanted me to dig in the mud with her. Of course, I told her I needed to hold the camera so I couldn't really dig with her. Although she had other plans for me.
I love taking shots with natural lighting! Everyone is more animated when they are outdoors, so we usually try to get some outdoor shots along with studio shots when we do portraits, it helps everyone loosen up, us included.

the pickup

Josie and Chris picked up their shots this weekend. They loved them! I am so happy when the couple enjoys our hard work. I know that people choose us because they like are work, but it is great to see them exclaim and get excited when they finally get to see their prints. It's great to know that our shots will help people relieve the excitement and emotion of their wedding day.

We've got another wedding in May, the 5th with Adam and Stacy. May will be a busy month for us with the two weddings and then editing.
I've also got a friend who wants to get some family portraits done, she's pregnant with her second and I've got some great ideas to play around with for the whole family.

So: in May we've got the 5th booked for Adam and Stacy and the 26th with Bruce and Rebekah.

Fawley Wedding

We've finally finished editing the pics, okay it was a couple days ago, but I forget to update here all the time, and thought I'd add some. Josie and Chris were amazing. They are going to have a wonderful life together. It was such a beautiful wedding, and Emma, Josie's little girl, was such a darling, we got some wonderful images of her. I do hope you enjoy the images here as much as we enjoyed taking them.

Editing

We are working on editing all the images from the wedding on saturday and as soon as we've got that done, I'll load some up on here.
The wedding was great. The bride was gorgeous and the groom was a little nervous until the "I do's", but after that, he was back to himself. Josie and Chris were such a cute couple, and Emma, Josie's little girl, was the best flower girl. I can't wait to get prints and show the couple. I know that they are going to love the memories of their day.
