Merry Christmas!!

milk and cookies, originally uploaded by briemarie.

Hopefully everyone got what they wanted for Christmas! It is gorgeous outside, the sun is shining down on the blanket of snow and it looks like a beautiful day. Of course, I'm at work, but I hope that everyone else gets to spend the day with family and friends having a wonderful time!

Santa must not have gotten my note about the new camera, but we got a new surround system which Rob is most likely putting together as I type, I'll find out when I get home later. We gave our parents the coolest present ever, though. Now, getting both sets together was a disaster, but my mom showed up to Rob's parents at ten last night after she sung at the late church service. We hand them their matching presesnts, Kay got hers open first, she pulls out the pacifier and is looking at it and then looking at us. My mom freaks out because she hasn't even gotten the wrapping paper off yet, and then rips open the box, throwing the contents all over the couch. It was hilarious! I really wish we had a video camera for that.

So, the cat's out of the bag, we are going to have a baby sometime in July/August. Rob is so excited, I'm sure he'll pop, and we've been keeping this a secret for the last month since Kay has been down in Tennessee and I made him not tell anyone, not even our friends. Can you imagine how hard that secret was?

All right, enough about us, I want to know what everyone else got for Christmas! Leave me a comment, let me know what you were hoping for and what you got.

Happy Holidays!!

Freckle's elf phase, originally uploaded by briemarie.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone. I hope with the deluge of snow we have received that everyone is still doing great. I love the way that the snow makes the world look brand new, but I really hate to drive in it, thank goodness that both Rob and I drive four wheel drive vehicles, I'm not sure that I would be getting to work without it somedays, or making it home as the case may be.

I hope that everyone gets to spend the holidays with the ones that they love, keep them close and give them a hug, even if you'll see them tomorrow. Let's spread the love.

Merry Christmas.

Christmas tea

christmas tea, originally uploaded by briemarie.

While Kay is gone, Amanda and I took miss Cheyanne out to Christmas tea, she was a little disappointed that it was only orange banana juice instead of tea (we're pretty sure she was thinking sweet tea), but we did have some fun. Cheyanne played with the other little girls while Amanda and I made up our own little snowlady decorations and munched on gingerbread cookies, yummy!

On another Christmas note, Rob got us a real tree! We haven't had a real tree the entire time we've lived together, we have this tiny three foot tree that we set up, but this year, oh our house smells so good! I just don't have enough ornaments for it, it nearly touches our ceiling! Maybe I'll post some pictures, then you can see that Cheyanne helped me to decorate, ha!

{real life} miss e - baraboo

miss e, originally uploaded by briemarie.

On friday I had the absolute pleasure of having Tori bring little miss Ella up for her four month old picures! What a doll, she smiled and talked, and I, of course, took a ton of shots that I have to weed down. I love her big bow, is that not the coolest thing? I'm totally going to have to buy some of my own for props.

Tori and her mom were awesome, and little miss Ella was fabulous, if only all babies were like her. Take a look at those gorgeous blue eyes, I say that they look like Tori's, but who knows. So, here goes a little teaser of the cutest little girl, seriously, I totally wanted to keep her, such a good baby. She was talking and blowing bubbles, I absolutely loved it!

Thanks Tori for making my day, and week, and maybe even the whole month of December awesome!!

{beautiful}

beautiful in color, originally uploaded by briemarie.

Last night we hit the Baraboo Light Parade. It's always freezing, of course, although this year was slightly less cold than last year. We were still wearing our thick jackets, hats, scarves, gloves/mittens. Next year, I need to bring a blanket. Although I met up with my dear friend Karen, isn't she gorgeous? Seriously I am loving this shot of her. So, my dear friend Karen and her two lovely little ones, and her new puppy, Pixie, and they have a blanket, and then my dear friend Jess shows up with her two little girls and they have a blanket. Oh, my friends, I am totally a mooch and grabbed one little girl for my lap (to keep her off the cold cold sidewalk, or just to keep myself warm!) and we wrapped up in a blanket. Lovely.
The parade was a blast, they still don't give candy out to the adults, but I'll keep holding out.

Anyways, hope the season is going great for everyone! Happy holidays and a happy Thanksgiving!!! PS. it's Thursday in case anyone was wondering, and I'll be at work, so if you've got extra food you can come visit me up at the shop!! Don't worry, I'll understand if you're spending the entire day with your own family!

Rockstar weather

rockstar children, originally uploaded by briemarie.

Isn't this weather crazy?!!! Today it is perfect out again, all week it rained, last week it was freezing and then the week before that we were out swinging in t-shirts!! I'm not looking forward to the snow that I'm sure will be coming and staying very soon, but a couple more nice days like today and I can get all my leaves raked.

Everyone enjoy the weather while you can!

{albums} september 2008 issues

covers, originally uploaded by briemarie.

We got in a couple of albums last week and they are so totally gorgeous! Look at the covers on these babies! This is the front cover of Aaron and Kristin's wedding and the back cover of Jeff and Joleen's wedding. Aren't they gorgeous?! The covers are metallic prints wrapped around the hardcover books, the inside pages have a linen texture and they are just amazing!!!

I really don't want to give them up because they are so gorgeous, but you know I will. I've still got a couple of albums to get finished up, so I really should run now and get those done, plus we're working on a couple more sample albums for the 2009 Bridal Fair at Ho-Chunk, if you've got any ideas for us, leave a comment, we love to hear from you!!!

Happy Belated Halloween!!

up the walk, originally uploaded by briemarie.

I know that I have been a little slack on blogging. I've been touching up albums and getting others ready to send out while also working on a couple of family shoots. I'll get more pics up soon, I promise that I have not forgotten about you, November is just a little crazier than some months. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. I went out with a friend trick or treating with my niece, my goddaughter and her little sister, they were so adorable. Here's a shot of them so excited for the first house, which didn't have candy, but that's a whole other story!

Cheers!

{updates} life + work

I know, I know, I've been slacking, or so it seems! In truth, I've been super busy getting some albums finished up to send out for printing, doing some family shoots (which I need to blog!) and just living my life. It's been a crazy hectic couple of weeks and I will soon return to my normal semi-regular blogging, but there's still so much work to get done. So, I haven't forgotten about my loyal bloggers, but I have been working even though I have not added anything new here.

Our brand spankin' new sample album

I got home from my long day at work today to find, well I knew it would be waiting since I'd been checking the tracking number all day, my Finao ONE sample album!!! It is utterly gorgeous and so substantial, you won't have to worry about hurting this baby, it's one tough cookie. The album, which is our new offering for 2009, is completely handmade, which we love, and is packaged completely green, the album is wrapped with handmade paper made from recycled pineapple leaves and wrapped in a ribbon from recycled mulberry leaves. Take a look:

Now, here are a couple of our albums with the new ONE on the bottom. The ONE is a 12x12 flushmount with metal armor cover, then we have an 8x8 Element in Lady Danger, and to top it off a 5x5 Upper Element in Bomber Jacket, which is such a gorgeous leather, I could just hold it all day!

Look at this gorgeous spine, and the pages are so thick and smooth.

This baby lays flat, yeah you heard me, flat! We've got a gutter running down the center, but we can also do creased prints, but you can barely even see the gutter. Now, you may remember some of these images, we shot one of my high school friend's wedding in August and they had the most amazing wedding so we just had to use their wedding for our sample.

I am so happy that we finally got our sample in, I love it, have I said that enough? Now I really can't wait to start designing these for our clients, I know you'll love them just as much as us!

{real life} milller session - paquette park - portage, wi

So, last week I met up with my best friend, Karen, and her super cute family for their photo session. I love my job. She has two little ones and I did not believe it was them at first - they have grown up so fast and are getting so very big! Sylvie is walking and talking and Seth was adorable in his fancy black shirt and cowboy boots, I know Steve was jealous that Seth had cuter shoes! Haha. What sweeties. Karen even brought a little red wagon for the kids. Love!

Take a look at the teasers, let us know what you think, we had the perfect day for it, not too much sun and it wasn't cold hardly at all! And if these aren't cute enough, I've got a senior to blog and another session from Paquette Park from today!! Yay!

{in love} amanda + aaron, devil's lake, baraboo, wi

Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of meeting Amanda and Aaron for their Get to Know You Shoot, or engagement shoot if you want to be all formal, wink. Amanda and I had gone to high school together and we met Aaron at Mollie and Scott's wedding, so we aren't strangers, but it was really great getting to know Aaron.

We met up out at Devil's Lake, hoping to get some awesome fall foliage, but the leaves just seem to be changing and dropping, but I still think that we got some rockin' shots, and these two will be a blast at their wedding, I mean, the let us talk them into some crazy stuff, like getting next to a spider infested window, I'm fine, no spiders got me, I gave the rest of that area a wide berth after that. We hiked up and down, got some shots of these two down by the beach and they put on their Badger wear for us, how sweet is all that? Now be sure to check out Amanda's ring, it's her birthstone, and I love it! (maybe because mine is a sapphire, it's just something different, but I love a little bit of colour!)

{updates} on life

I know I've been slacking!! I'm sorry, but I have been working on some major reconstruction this week. Rob put in a new window in our kitchen, which looks totally awesome, we each had vacation this week and did a ton of stuff around the house, and I know I have a ton of stuff to blog about, we had an engagement shoot almost two weeks ago now, Jackie and David's wedding from last week, and this coming week we've got a couple of shoots lined up, plus I have got several albums that I need to get hopping on. So, here's a little treat for you, and if you haven't hit the apple orchard yet this year, I would highly recommend it, they have the best caramel apples.

So, along with all the stuff we've been working on at home, I've been getting our new website all spiffed up, take a look (let me know what you think, it's still in the early stages!): www.realphotographyrealpeople.com, and please, let me know if anything's weird on there! I can see the website in my sleep, hahaha.

And by the way, we still have a bunch of openings up yet this year, so if you are thinking of getting those family portraits done in time for Christmas and the holidays, please give us a call, we'd love to help capture your memories!!

{wedding} jeff + joleen

I know it's taken me a while to get these pics up, but here is Jeff and Joleen's wedding from the 19th of September.

Well, they called this one the "Brady bunch wedding"! Between Jeff and Joleen, they have three girls and three boys, and you can definitely tell that this is going to be one great big loving family! The couple got married out at Lake Redstone at Joleen's parent's summer home in the backyard. They had just invited family and close friends and it was so super casual, the girls didn't wear any shoes, and they had their kids standing up with them. It was so perfect, the light was beautiful, the bride was gorgeous and there was so much happiness.

The ceremony was short and sweet, it started at 6:30 and we were losing light fast, but we got all the pictures done in the nick of time.

Appetizers were served along with the wedding cake on the deck overlooking picnic tables set out on the lawn below. It was such a fun group and a blast to be a part of their day, so fun and filled with love.

{wedding} aaron + kristin 9.20.2008

All right, it's been over a week and I haven't posted more than a tiny blip about my weddings from last week! I'd like to say that this past week has been super busy and that's my reason for the slackage, but I promise to pick it up from here on out.

Last saturday we had a super gorgeous wedding. I knew it would be a blast when I walked in on the girls getting ready and Kristin was just in her underclothes, looking gorgeous already I might add, and trying to decide on wearing the dress or just walking out like that. I suggested the veil to go along with her ensemble, but her dress was super fab (she bought it online!) and she decided to wear it. I knew that this wedding was going to be awesome when I saw that Amber Moon from Baraboo had done the flowers. I love how bright and colorful they are!

The wedding was at Saint Joe's in Baraboo, a huge cathedral of a building and it has so many places to get great images at. While Rob was capturing the bride before the ceremony, I went out to keep Aaron company, and we tried to figure out how many tires it takes to fill up their play area (if anyone knows, please let me know - the groomsmen were trying to figure it out all day!!). The ceremony was beautiful and then we had some time to kill before the reception, I love it when the bride and groom plan for extra time between things, it gives us time to really get some fun shots! The weather was perfect, blue sky with puffy little clouds and a little breeze, what more could you ask for on your wedding day?

They had a limo pick them up from the church, and headed downtown Baraboo for some partying, and then up to the Dells and finally to Trapper's Turn, a gorgeous golf course on the edge of the Dells with a fantastic reception area. The meal was amazing, let me tell you that our couples are always willing to let us eat with them and after this wedding it may be the reason that Rob shoots weddings now! There was Italian wedding soup, gorgeous salad (almost a crime to eat it, it was so pretty!) and the main course was bacon wrapped fillet mignon, the steak was so tender we could cut it with a butter knife! It's possible that was the best meal I have ever had dining out. Plus, the reason I shoot weddings, the wedding cake was gorgeous, more of the beautiful flowers and they had some great flavours like carrot cake, oh how amazing does all that sound?

Now, as if that wasn't all amazing, they had a band come in and play, Easy Street, and although we blew a circuit or breaker (have I ever mentioned that I'm not really that great with electronic stuff?) the party continued soon after and the reception was rocking. Check out the shot of Kristin's dad, he's an awesome dancer!

So, here are some teasers and a few of our favourites from the day:
Look at Aaron holding those flowers! He looks great in the bright colours.

Before the ceremony, Aaron kept checking the time as we were waiting for the bridal portraits to finish up.

Seriously, what a cool cake!

Oh yeah, he lifted her straight off the floor!

I think this may be one of my favourites of the day! Kristin totally rocked her dress and she looked like a princess.

While we were partying before the reception, Aaron was teasing the flowergirl, at least I'm sure that's what was happening ;) and she was hissing back at him like a cat. How sweet is this shot?

Look at how in love these two are! I love their expressions and how loving they were. It was little moments like this that really remind me of why I shoot weddings, I love to document the love that they feel for each other.

{samples} swatch tins

So, we got in part of our sample order yesterday. I had been checking my email all week, and noticed that they were to arrive yesterday, I was so excited. I got home, saw the box sitting on the front porch, cleaned up the toilet paper that the kids had decorated our house with the night before (it's homecoming, you know! although why our house got hit I have got no idea, anyways back to my story), I take the box inside, clean off the coffee table so there is someplace clean to place the albums, go wash my hands, and then wait. Wait for Rob to get home so I don't open the albums without him. He gets home and I open the box, and lo and behold, it's not the sample albums, but the swatch tins we ordered along with them!!

I've got another email saying that the albums (crossing my fingers) will be here next week. So, I was a little sad that it was just the swatches until I took a look at them. They are so luscious and gorgeous and so much more elegant in person that now I have tons of colour combinations running through my head of all the albums that I want to order next! Now, I'm really really really excited to get our samples in, the swatches were so soft and delicious, they have completely environmentally friendly swatches along with leathers so we've got everyone covered. I can't wait to begin our new year with these albums. If you'd like to checkout our new line go to www.finaoonline.com, they are just gorgeous and so many options!

{catch up} weekend of weddings

This past weekend we had two very different weddings.

Jeff and Joleen got married in her parents backyard, overlooking the lake in their bare feet, while Kristin and Aaron got married at Saint Joe's church, a huge cathedral with tons of light and architectural intricacies.

Both weddings though, were so beautiful and full of fun and life. I had such a great time at both of them and will get some teasers up just as soon as I can. I love that every wedding is different but they are all filled with love, laughter and family, what more could you ask for?

I know it has taken me a while, but I have finally gotten around to getting some of these processed, I am so sorry for the wait! We had Amanda jump in twice! Can you believe that? It's true, she was a total trooper all day, and we got some amazing shots of her. Check them out and feel free to leave a comment, I love to hear what everyone else thinks about our work!
