{personal} a day at the lake

It was so gorgeous out today that Rob and I met his parents and Cheyanne to walk around the lake. I'll admit it was a bit colder at the lake, it's always colder at the lake, right? Anyways, Cheyanne loves to be outside, so we all troop down to the beach where she continuously throws sand into the water, which has a sheet of ice still floating on half of it. I was feeling like flare today, if you couldn't tell, and thought I'd share a bit of our adventure. While Rob will understand why I'm laying on the ground with Hector in my hands, I still need to explain to Cheyanne that I'm just taking a picture. I'll do almost anything to get the shot, except actually jump in the water, haha.

{album news} new swatches

urban legends collection, originally uploaded by briemarie.

Don't you love it when you come home and there's a surprise waiting for you? This one was in the mailbox when we got home, I love getting the mail, unless it's bills - those I could do without, right? Anyways, I see that we have an envelope from our fabulous album company, and realize with a squeal, oh yes so excited, that our newest swatch collection had arrived.

After ripping open the envelope, I pulled out these babies! I am in love love love! With names like queen for a day, something wicked, and lusterin' hot, how can you not be excited?! The suedes are super soft, now I want an album!, and the patent leathers are so cool and smooth. This will decisions about color so much harder, right? But we all know that choices are good.

Gary Allan in concert at the Crystal Grand!

I thought I'd share what I did this weekend! My friend Karen invited me to go and see Gary Allan at the Crystal Grand Music Theater in the Dells. We had a blast, and although there was a little confusion as to our seating arrangements, who really comes to the concert alone?! We enjoyed the music. I love musicians, they are always such vibrant characters, like the guy on guitar that was wearing a kilt, he may have been my fav, and usually I'm all for the drummer! There was an awesome violinist, keyboard player and second guitarist with some wicked solos, it really makes me wish that I could play an instrument, decently.

I hope everyone enjoyed the first weekend of spring!

Custom Photographers

I just came across an awesome website that helps to educate the consumer on why a custom photographer is the way to go. Photography is more than just picking up a camera and taking a great shot, there is so much more involved in the way that photographers think and create. Especially with the onslaught of digital cameras, everyone seems to own one, maybe at the next wedding, we'll just turn around and snap a shot of everyone shooting behind us! Wouldn't that be a funny shot?

The difference between a professional photographer and someone with a camera, is that the professional knows how to utilize the settings of their equipment, knows how to properly expose to get that perfect shot, while Uncle Ted just points his camera and clicks away. I just wanted to share this link with everyone, and maybe it will help to see why a custom photographer is the way to go, instead of heading to the local mega mart, you know what I'm talking about, to get those family pictures taken.

Check out the link here: www.professionalchildphotographer.com

Truly, it's an awesome sight, full of some great insight to the world of photography and some amazing photographers, so go ahead check it out and let me know what you think, we always love to hear from you!

{exciting news}

We have some exciting news to share with our peeps: we are now able to accept credit cards. No more waiting for checks to clear, this should make it easier than ever for some of our clients.

Along with being able to accept credit cards, our new proofing and online ordering system is up and running. I can't wait for our next shoot to really put it into action.

And the last of the news, for now at least, we are halfway along with our pregnancy, super excited and a little worried (I'm sure all new parents have this fear to begin with!). We go in for the ultrasound on friday, I don't want to find out, but Rob does, we'll see how that goes, so I'm sure that everyone will soon see the first shot of our little bundle of joy. Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well!

I hope the sunny weather and wonderful temperatures is making everyone want to go outside and enjoy the fresh air before it rains next week. I know I've been craving the outdoors.

down came the snow

covered in ice ii, originally uploaded by briemarie.

Wow, we had some crazy weather today! It started out with a drizzly rain and moved onto sleet with a mixture of hail and finally finished up most of the afternoon with snow! It's really great packing snow if anyone wants to come over and make a snow woman with me!

Well, we met with two more fabulous couples yesterday. Lisa and Jake booked us for their wedding at Chula, so we're going to cross our fingers that the day is going to be beautiful out, they are planning on getting married out by the river, how exciting! I can't wait, although I know that we are going to have a couple of busy busy months this summer.

Happy snow day to all! I'm hoping that no one had to drive out in this stuff without a major reason, it was slick.

so exciting!

I have a huge grin on my face. Why, you ask? We just met a super cool couple, and can't wait to shoot their wedding. Molly and Stuart met on eharmony, our second couple to meet that way! and will be getting married in October. I love October, it's the month that Rob and I got married ourselves. We talked about the wedding, cake and flowers, and we totally clicked. I love it when we just seem to fit together! I was just so excited that I had to share with everyone! Rob and I are so blessed to find all these super awesome couples. We love what we do, and we feel that it shows in our images, of course none of this would be possible without our awesome clients. Thank you!!

PS. We are working on being able to take credit cards, we're moving into the 21st century now!

If anyone wants to talk cake, let me know, I have the perfect place, and I love cake! I'll even leave you with a closeup of some frosting, which is perhaps my favourite part. Yum.

{wedding} jackie + david - st. paul's, baraboo

Jackie and David got married on October 4th, and I cannot believe that it has taken me so long to blog about them! Sorry guys, here goes:

As the ceremony began we heard the distinct sound of sirens filling the church. An omen? Decidedly not as the sirens continued past the church.

Once the hassle of formals was over, we know the groomsmen were ready to be off to the party, the day was great. It was gorgeous out, the sun was shining and we had a nice crisp day, dawning cool, but warming up nicely. Jackie was stunning, she had found her dress online and then picked it up at Yost bridal two weeks before they went out of business. She had her hair done at TJ Hairazors by her aunt and looked amazing, along with all the bridesmaids.

St. Paul's in Baraboo is where the ceremony was held at, I love the stained glass windows at St. Paul's, the fill almost the entire wall! After the ceremony, the groomsmen hopped on their bikes for a few more shots, since Rob got some of them getting to the church on their pre-wedding ride. The wedding party took a bus around town, hit a couple bars and then on to the reception at Park Plaza. The food was wonderful, the cake amazing and the party rocked the night away. The whole wedding party was out on the floor singing to Hank Williams JR's Family Tradition. What a perfect day for a wedding.
